The Urban Foundation (NGO)
The Urban Foundation -A private sector non-profit organisation NGO founded and sponsored by blue chip listed companies such as Anglo American, De Beers and the Barlow Group, with the specific mission of providing low cost affordable housing, sanitation and primary health care facilities and classrooms across South Africa for previously disadvantaged communities. Responsible as CEO for the delivery of over 5 000 affordable housing units and site and service stands in newly created urban township developments.
Roles include for the overall development management of these large scale township projects including for Urban Design, land acquisition, site servicing, financing, housing design and construction management, marketing and sales.

New Developments managed included: a Housing Golf Estate project consisting of 500 housing units, two Hotels, schools and club house facilities in Zimbabwe; Industrial plant construction in Uganda; Brewery plant extensions in Zambia: the extension and development of 150 000 sqm of Retail shopping mall in South Africa; Commercial Office Parks Developments; Motor Dealership outlets in Kenya and Tanzania; Civil Engineering Projects (Dams and roads) in Zambia, Zimbabwe and Swaziland and Hotel refurbishing projects in Mozambique and Kenya.

Residential Lifestyle estate incorporating a Five Star hotel; 45 luxury villas; specialty restaurant; 18 hole signature golf course and clubhouse; beach club; leisure facilities; health spa and spa pavilions; water features; island and lagoon pools.

Responsibilities included for initial concept to overall development coordination including for managing of golf and housing estate design, project management, financing, sales and marketing. The challenge was to create a master planned, integrated golf development with luxury villas, marina, waterfront entertainment centre and including for a five star Four Seasons managed resort island hotel, all developed in a truly “place orientated” resort.

1990 – 1995
Founder shareholder and development director of private hospital group CLINIX.
Clinix Health Group (Pty) Ltd. owns and operates a network of private hospitals in South Africa. The company offers general and specialist in-patient and out-patient health services.
As founder partner was responsible for the setting up of the group and the development of its initial portfolio of three private hospitals located in and around greater Johannesburg.
Responsible for project feasibility, licensing, design and professional team appointment, overall development management, equipment sourcing, financing, marketing and securing of initial hospital management operator.
